A new meaning of life is taking shape for Palestinian children today, one that transcends play, school, and small dreams. In the shadow of the genocide our people are enduring, awareness matures early, and the question about tomorrow transforms into an act of resistance. Between the Nakba of 1948 and our current catastrophe, we write and document our life stories so they remain a witness to the massacres committed against us and a testament to our right to exist on the land of historical Palestine.
Through a personal narrative that extends back to al-Majdal, from which the grandmother of the author, Bisan Neteel, was displaced in 1948, and the living stories of Palestinian children and youth from the refugee camps in Gaza, the book paints a map of awareness that confronts genocide through text, and resists forgetting with storytelling.
The book is directed to readers of all ages: youth, adolescents, teachers, researchers, and educators, as a humanitarian, educational document that contributes to protecting memory from erasure, and affirms that storytelling is a necessity for survival.
