In Chain of Fire, Beverley Naidoo continues the journey of Naledi and Tiro, who have become more aware, conscious, and capable of enacting change, possessing a deeper sense of their right to a normal life in a land of apartheid. It is a narrative that Naidoo began with the story of two children searching for their mother in Journey to Johannesburg, only to transform into a more dramatic and expansive journey as the vision regarding the reality of injustice becomes clear, and the realization of the necessity to change it widens.
