The donkey thought his voice was very ugly, so he did not sing, although everyone around him did: sparrows, roosters, horses, and all the other animals. But one day he broke the silence, overcame his shyness and sang. Everyone was surprised and asked, “Will he sing of toil and patience and strong hooves?” But he sang of rain. Only then did the rain fall, and everyone rejoiced, singing and dancing with the big hailstones.
