Tales on Horseback

Written for girls and boys by the Mongolian author Jambyn Dashdondog, this book consists of nine tales. Each carries an educational and moral meaning without heaviness or affectation, while also entertaining the child reader, widening their horizons, and bringing them closer to nature: its animals and birds, mountains and plains, seas and trees. The book offers an indirect encouragement to love one’s homeland and not abandon it for any reason. It also soars into a world of imagination that delights the child reader and urges them toward creative adventure and toward reflecting on the phenomena and beings around them.
