Coffee, the Rabbit, and the Lost Snowflake

The story traces a familiar progression of Alzheimer’s disease. From the loss of words to the loss of competence, it shows how a girl deals with her grandfather: from the time he knew the Latin names of all the plants he used to care for, to a time when he is no longer able to solve jigsaw‑picture puzzles or keep to his schedule. Drawing on many familiar sensory cues, the granddaughter reaches out to help her grandfather, reminding him and motivating him to stay engaged with those around him, in a picture book translated from Danish.
