The book revolves around the Gond legend of water. The author evokes his upbringing in his village, where water is scarce, and where people celebrated any ingenious, humane initiative that made access to it easier. But unlike the village, the city has enormous needs, and in its drive to meet them, a grave danger looms over this resource, threatening to dry it up for good.
