Tamer Institute launched a program titled "Identity and Media" as part of a project to enhance learning opportunities among youth, funded by the Norwegian People's Aid organization. The program aims to raise awareness about identity issues and involve young people in society as a first step towards enhancing their role in media literacy, media criticism, and analysis of media content. The ultimate goal is to develop their ability to express their issues, shape their content and messages, and express them through various available media tools.
The program involved fifty young men and women from different governorates in the Gaza Strip. It addressed topics such as personal identity, the components of our individual identity, collective identity with its components and history, the elements of strength in our collective identity, and how to highlight them culturally and through media. It also explored the role of youth in society, the impact of social media on our lives, and how to design campaigns on social media.
The program stood out for providing a significant space for interaction through discussions, analysis, and criticism. The participants discussed various media materials that have contributed to the dissemination of political and social messages. They analyzed their impact and the components of the messages they convey. It was a unique and fruitful experience in shaping their media awareness, enabling them to analyze the surrounding media content and empowering them to create their own media content and messages.
