  Paper Planes Initiative

Groups in all regions have been working on community initiatives that have an artistic approach. These initiatives include the production of awareness-raising videos that shed light on issues concerning the youth, such as choosing a major and the dilemma between personal inclinations and the needs of the job market, the shape of national identity and its manifestations in the current situation, the role of Palestinian women in revolutionary movements and economic development, and a focus on the right to identity and belonging. They aim to create spaces for expression and emphasize the right to movement and mobility, which Palestinians have been deprived of for a long time. These themes are being prepared by Al-Nakheel teams in various areas of the Gaza Strip.

One of the significant initiatives recently implemented is the Kite initiative, which focuses on the right to movement and mobility, a right that Palestinians have been deprived of for a long time. The Al-Nakheel team recognized the importance of providing this imaginative opportunity for children, allowing them to soar in their experiences and imagination towards the places they love. Tamer Institute produced an instructional film on how to make a paper kite and shared it on their Facebook platform. The field team, along with creative facilitators, invited children to make their own paper kites and write about their experiences in isolation and quarantine, as well as the places they would like to visit using their paper kites. The initiative was launched on June 4, coinciding with the commemoration of the Naksa, as a reaffirmation of unity and solidarity among members of the Palestinian community and their right to freedom. More than 240 children and adolescents participated in the campaign across all governorates.
