  Public Statement

In defense of children's right to think, be surprised, and ask questions, and to enhance their abilities to think and reflect on what is around them, and based on the Tamer Institute for Community Education's keenness on the integrity of the Palestinian social and national fabric, and out of its firm conviction that communication with the local community is the way to bridge the gap over any misunderstanding, The Foundation presents this statement to clarify what happened in the cultural club, which is implemented by the Directorate of Education in cooperation with the Tamer Foundation, in the "Riyad Al-Aqsa" school on the outskirts of Jerusalem.

Within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Education and the Tamer Foundation, in the presence of the Foundation’s coordinator, and within the activities of the aforementioned cultural club, a group of discussions took place with the students about the universe and its material developments, historical and contemporary. the world, through safe and open dialogues with their local communities, especially in light of technological openness to the world, and the access of the majority of children and adolescents to information sources that may be misleading in many cases.

The Tamer Foundation confirms that what some people published later about the dialogue sessions and discussions is misleading and defaming the institution and its cadres, and spreading baseless rumors, to the extent that they used very offensive words that are alien to us and our culture and societal values. Despite the institution's long and determined efforts to contain the crisis through cooperation with the ministry, and by joint meeting with students, parents, and other parties, the smear campaign is still continuing and becoming more violent.

Undoubtedly, this misinformation and attack is part of the fierce campaign and declared war against cultural action in Palestinian society, institutions and individuals working in the culture and education sector, and against every action related to the realization of reason, contemplation, and contemplation urged by religions.

It is worth mentioning that the Tamer Foundation, since its inception in 1989 from the womb of the first intifada, seeks to promote a culture of learning in Palestine, build national identity and humanity, and promote the values of belonging to the authentic Palestinian Arab culture, by building broad and extended partnerships with the network of school libraries, And the community, which includes more than 400 partners in camps, villages, cities, and various Palestinian gatherings.

Finally, the Foundation calls for not being drawn into exclusionary thinking and defaming individuals and institutions that have supported and continue to support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in preserving their identity and belonging. It also calls upon our Palestinian society and the responsible authorities to stand up to their duty to preserve the freedom of cultural work, and to stop any irrational incitement that may lead to sedition and violence.

Tamer Foundation also confirms that it will resort to the Palestinian judiciary and its community partners, to protect its cadres and work crews against any discourse of any kind, which may expose them to abuse due to unfounded rumors and misleading news.

Building civil peace is everyone's responsibility, individuals and institutions. Let us all try to make dialogue a common language for us.
