Yara’at Supplement
YARA’AT is a bimonthly supplement in Al-Ayyam newspaper, started in 1996, that represents a free forum for literary and educational expression for youth, and now it is published every two months in the same newspaper .
Yara’at aims at urging youngsters to express themselves through endeavors which promote creative writing, to bridge the gap between youngsters in various locals. The organizational, executive, and editing committees of Yara’at are made up of youngsters ranging in age between 14 and 21 years. Yara’at is open to all youth in Palestine to encourage them to express their personal experiences, feelings and ideas through creative writing and drawings. It teaches them to seek facts and knowledge and ensures an active participatory learning. The Newsletter is open to poetry, creative writings and drawings and is open to discussion of issues of concern for Palestinian youth.
Yaraat meets weekly to discuss books, song, movies, and their own writings, The main activities of Yaraat include:
- Weekly Thursday meetings.
- Literate evenings and ceremonies.
- Art exhibitions.
- Literary Days Camp.
- Summer Days Camp.
- Aid in campaigning especially the National Reading Campaign.
- Work on I Donated a Book Campaign.
