We went to the grocery shop and looked at the T.V surprised that there are 10 martyrs in Gaza. As soon as we reached the Tamer institute they told us that the martyrs are now up to 40 and then when we reached the T.V and opened the news they became 120 martyrs. In less than 30 minutes, 120

people were killed, children, men, women and elders. We felt really bad. Tamer youth and staff members needed to do something in order to express our feelings, anger, and support. We took some posters and started writing whatever came to mind. We went into the streets. The streets were really crowded with angry demonstrators , no one planned for anything, but a protest just started randomly because of the sadness and fear for our people in Gaza .

Later on we figured out that it was not just a single attack, it’s an ongoing offensive attack that all Palestinians are facing. People in Gaza are not just getting threatened and killed, but they are also starving and freezing. No electricity, no food, no gas, and no medicine, they don’t have any of the essentials they need in order to survive.

We the youth at this stage decided to use our sadness, anger and energy to turn it into something creative and productive to support our people in Gaza .

We went and talked to some other groups of concerned people, and started many activities from having silent demonstrations with lighted candles to collecting food ,clothes and medicine, in order to send them to Gaza to show our support. We are sending these essentials because they are not only facing the Israeli missiles but also facing a siege that prevents them from being able to get the essentials they need such as food, water . medicine and clothing .

We the youth, have found that the way to be both supportive and active citizens in our society is by finding innovative and creative ways to make a difference and we carry this spirit of hope with us in our hearts in the hope that we will have a free Palestine created by its people .rth Gaza 18th Jan 2009
