Creating alternatives to learning in various locations and to the largest number of people is the locus of the vision and philosophy of the Institute. Learning, according to Tamer Institute, is creating a connection between language, action, and construction of knowledge, within a common vision and context. The Institute’s vision includes – as an integral part of the learning process – the respect for the human being and nature, as the natural context for any work or expression or idea.

Name And Logo

The name of the Institute is derived from “dates” which have a very important standing in the Arab and Palestinian culture and heritage. Dates were a primary source of nutrition, helping people survive. It was also a symbol of the spiritual food where understanding is part of spiritual growth.
The “Tamer” is the person who transports seeds from one Palm tree to another in order to fertilize it and improve its produce. This work reflects the Institute’s vision of its role in society where it transfers experiences and disseminates them in order to develop capacity and skills for its beneficiaries.

The Logo is a poppy breaking through rocky soil, reflecting the hope in change in human societies which sometimes contain social structures and thought patterns that hinder development and waste potential. It also symbolizes youth breaking through those difficulties and contributing to the process of changing and developing society.

اسم المؤسسة مستوحى من "تمر"، لما كان للتمر من مكانة في التراث العربي والفلسطيني. فقد كان مصدرا غذائيا رئيساً، ساهم في رفد حياة الناس بالبقاء، كما كان رمزا للقوت الروحي، حيث يعتبر الفهم جزءا من النمو الروحي .

إن نقل البذور من نخلة إلى أخرى يهدف إلى إخصابها وتحسين إنتاجها، وهذا يولد حاجة إلى شخص يقوم بهذا العمل، ومن يقوم به يسمى "تامر". وهذا هو تماما دور المؤسسة في التعليم المجتمعي، حيث تعمل على نقل التجارب وتعميمها من أجل تطوير القدرات والمهارات للمستفيدين من عملها .

أما الشعار فيصور شقيقة النعمان التي تخترق التربة المتحجرة، ليعكس الأمل بإجراء تغيير في المجتمعات البشرية، التي تتضمن بنى اجتماعية وأنماط تفكير، غالبا ما تكون معيقة لتطور المجتمع وهادرة لطاقاته. ويصور الشباب مخترقا تلك الصعوبات ومساهما في عملية تغيير وتطوير المجتمع .
