The Publishing Unit
The Publishing Unit was established in 1993, with the overall goal of developing children’s literature in Palestine and providing quality literature available for children and young people in Palestine, thus encouraging youth to read. The Unit encourages local children’s literature writers and illustrators to produce more books and stories, and encourages the use of children’s literature in schools to enrich children’s language. The Publishing Unit aims to build capacity for NGO educational publishing for children, young people and teachers in Palestine. The Publishing Unit also deals with all of Tamer's publications.  The Unit selects the works to be published and is responsible for the translation, editing and printing of all materials produced by the Institute (including children's literature, flyers, posters and stickers for the Reading Campaign, as well as all advocacy materials).  Besides overseeing the end product of locally written stories, the publishing unit also oversees the translated books. Over 130 books have been published to date, many of which have been distributed free of charge to public and private schools and libraries, and sold through participating local and international book fairs. Tamer is glad to see its publications winning awards and placed in honor lists.

The literature committee's meetings are held in the Resource Center in addition to PBBY meetings.

The Resource Center launches many activities and trainings throughout the year by hosting local and international experts in the field of children's literature. Yara'at  and Voices teams attend the provided courses as well as the Palestinian writers, illustrators and critics.

The Children's Literature Resource Center holds all of the books published through Tamer Institute's Publishing Unit. For a complete list of our publications up to Spring 2008, please see our bilingual Publications Catalogue.
